Terry's Astrophotos

Navigation

Welcome to my little Astrophoto website. I’m limited in the amount of disk space my ISP provides so the images are compressed and I’ve only got room for a small number of them.

Photos here are mainly taken with either a Starlight Xpress MX716 (older shots) or the newer SXV-H9 CCD camera.  Older shots were taken using a 12 inch Meade LX200 “classic” telescope while later ones are taken with a Takahashi Sky 90 or TEC140 Refractor.  There are a number of wider shots taken with a Canon 300D SLR

Processing was carried out using MaximDL and a bit of Photoshop for final tweaking.

Comet p/17 Holmes

On 2007 October 24th, this periodic comet (period just under 7 years) suddenly flared from around magnitude 17 to easy naked eye visibility, peaking at around magnitude 2.5.  Needless to say, the weather was cloudy and wet for some days but I managed to get a fair number of observations in the following few weeks.  I’ve set up a Comet Holmes gallery here as part of the Solar System Gallery.
